Already making a difference — Pros: This training paddle really helps you focus on how you take your shots and the overall positioning of the paddle. Whether it be in the ready position, or as you swing. Personally, I think the paddle has the perfect dimensions for training purposes. Once you have your swing dialed in you can get good topspin and backspin from the paddle as well. Highly recommend it, and if you use it in an actual game you will have a lot of fun and laughs with it. — Cons: I only have two issues with the paddle. The first is the construction of the handle. The two sides of the handle feel hollow and aren't as comfortable as most modern pickleball paddles. The second "con" is more of a personal preference thing. These paddles are lighter than normal paddles, and much lighter than mine. At first, I was having a lot of issues switching between this and then going to my regular paddle for games. I ended up adding a lot of lead tape to the paddle, which has been holding up well on the edge guard, but since the paddle head is so high it makes the paddle head heavier than the balance I have with my paddle. Not a huge deal, but something to maybe make note of since adding the weight to the head makes drops a lot more difficult.
Franklin sweet spot paddle — Pros: Nice training tool
Long handle
Great for two handed backhand
Make you watch the ball and focus on point of contact
Very powerful
Surprisingly produced very good top and under spin
Feels easier on wrist and elbow, since only sweet spot available to hit the ball — Cons: None
Good Training Paddle — Pros: The size of the paddle face makes me have to watch the ball hit the paddle every time, otherwise I mis hit the ball on the edges of the paddle or miss the ball entirely. — Cons: I wish that this training paddle came in a standard length (15-3/4”) and an elongated length (16-1/2”). You can customize the training paddle with lead tape to customize it to the weight of paddle that you are using.
A bit of luxury, but works great — Pros: Great for dinking in the basement. For a tiny paddle, feels a lot like a normal paddle in the hand. I used to struggle with overhead slams, practiced with this and now they aren't a problem for me. For that reason alone, it was worth the purchase. Ended up buying a second so my partner and I could practice with them together. — Cons: Realistically, you can't play a game with this, not unless you buy 4 of them. So it's a training luxury. I've seen people say you could whip this out at the park against worse players to make it interesting for yourself, and in a vacuum you could, but it's clearly miniature. I can't imagine doing that to a stranger in real life.
Great Training Aid that's Very Practical — Pros: Can see instant results after only 1 practice session. Very comfortable grip. Swing weight and "feel" mimics that of a full size paddle. Has definitely assisted me with my control and technique. Can actually play real pickleball with it. — Cons: Would have been nice if an option for a cover was available. Maybe adding a couple different color options.
Just Wow!!: “Are you really playing with that thing? Get you a real paddle.” But after a few matches everyone wanted to get one. I was able to drive the ball with power. Soft game was awesome. Helped a lot with my top spin. I used it for 4 games then went back to regular 6.0 paddle and noticed a huge change in my hits. I could feel every miss hit and hear all my shots. I will buy another to help others better there game.
Great training paddle: This paddle makes me watch the ball to the paddle, otherwise I miss or mis hit the ball. The feedback is great. I can feel and see the ball going when I am aiming when I hit the center of the paddle. I can also feel and see the ball not going over the net and going in any direction.
Great Training Paddle: I love this paddle, because I really have to make an effort to watch the ball hit the center of the paddle on my dinks and volleys. Also, I receive great feedback when the ball hits the edges of the paddle. I have noticed that I am watching the ball to my paddle before looking up to where my ball is going.
This thing is an absolute RIOT: Plays awesome, You always get silly looks at the courts when you play with this, but it certainly helps you concentrate on making contact. Its about 1" inside of a standard elongated paddle. it generates spin and has lots of power, it actually feels really refined for a Franklin product. GET ONE!
My new favorite training aid: finally a training paddle that feels like a real paddle! Has a modern surface and actually hits the ball, great to play rec games with and hone in the sweet spot. Will be giving these as gifts to my pickleball friends, I only wish it was USAP approved.
